Global warming Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's surface and oceans observed since the beginning of the industrial revolution in 1750. It is most widely believed to be caused by the Carbon dioxide emissions given as a result of human activity such as electricity generation and the burning of fossil fuels in cars and airplanes. The causes The climate system varies through natural processes and in response to variations in external factors including solar activity, volcanic emissions, changes in the earth's orbit and greenhouse gases. The detailed causes of the recent warming remain an active field of research, but the scientific evidence points to increased levels of greenhouse gases due to human activity as the main influence.
