About GCSE Geography

Geography is the science that studies the Earth's physical features, the activities of human beings and how the two interact.

Why Study GCSE Geography?

GCSE Geography covers some of the big topics in the news- global warming, the Amazon rainforest and natural disasters like the Asian tsunami.

GCSE Geography: What Will I Study?

GCSE Geography is divided into two parts, physical geography and human geography.

Physical geography covers landscape and climate; for GCSE Geography you may study rivers, glaciers, volcanoes and forests.

Human geography looks at population patterns and movement and farming and industry. You could study tourism or shopping through your own surveys.

Passing GCSE Geography means carrying out experiments and measurements as well as writing essays.

GCSE Geography... What Comes Next?

GCSE Geography isn't just about getting out of school on field trips; it's the starting point for people who are interested in environmental issues and want to know more.

A Level geography will take you further, and then there are Degrees in environmental science, geology or oceanography.

Recent Reviews of Geography Essays

What our users think of the Geography essays in this section:

"This piece of work is neatly laid out, and splits up the characteristics into four different sections - which will make an excellent revision tool. You have made many good points, and have used reasons to explain them. An example of a CBD that you could refer to might have been a good idea - for example, Guildford (in Surrey) is an excellent example of a CBD. You refer to 'quiter roads' a couple of times, but what exactly do you mean by this. The twilight zone? There are quite a few spelling and grammatical errors - so I advise that you proof-read your work. TSR User: boosh_slayer"

"Good read and an interesting topic. I thought the evaluation could have done with more analysis as to why this has happened, and in addition, why the investigation is flawed, as the quality of the housing is from personal opinion. TSR User:Phobia27"

"It was ok but lacked explanation"

"I thought this was a decent piece of coursework which covered the essentials needed to get marks. I thought, however, it felt a little rushed in some parts and aiming to write the bare minimum for each aspect. Could have done with more analysis and evaluation. TSR User:Phobia27"

"A good attempt at your methodology. You've said what data collection methods you conducted, and where. However, this methodology needs a lot more detail, and I think you should have split up your different data collection methods into separate paragraphs. You also need to include the material you used, which help you collect your data; for example, you mention that you conducted a survey - a copy of this survey needs to be included, and you need to analyse each question. Stating how each data collection method will help you achieve your aims is also very important. Proof-read your work, as I have found many grammatical errors! TSR User: boosh_slayer"
