4th February 2008 Media coursework In this essay I will be looking at three advertisements. The first one I will be looking at is the Retiring Advert. The target audience would be for people who are either about to retire or have already retired. The physical elements in this advertisement include old things in an old style room; everything looks old and worn out, an elderly looking man sitting on a comfortable chair. He is wearing slippers and glasses and he has white hair that is balding. I would think that because he has slippers, glasses and white hair he is stereotyped. Also the chair and table are of an old fashioned design. The actions/implied relationships in this advertisement is the male figure who is sat in a passive position ands then there is a small girl sat on his knee: likely to be a granddaughter from her gaze and expression.
