Born Again The post-modern style in literature is rather difficult to define. Some believe that post-modern literature is when one includes modernly relevant sociological phenomenon in one's novel/shortstory - others, when one uses "modern originality" in one's metaphors and similes. Since the words "post-modern" basically signify "that which is more modern than what is presently modern", many people simply interpret it as a way of breaking the modern literary norm, and exploring new ways to illustrate their concepts or inspirations - both technically and fictionally. For instance, many artists and writers parallelize the post-modern style with the surrealistic art-form, which is why a lot of post-modern literature deals with man's subconsciousness in the post-modern society 1.
