A typical ghost story should be set in a spooky castle, mansion, where history is going to be repeated. In a ghost story the characters are going to be naive, ignorant of the area as the readers are so they'll be on the same position of knowing what is to become! For e.g a naïve family moves into a house that hasn't been lived in for years and as they settle in they find out that their new house is not like any normal house, that it's haunted with ghosts of the past. This gives the readers a beginning and a catchy start for readers to read on. The plot will shortly start to develop as the character gets less ignorant about the surroundings starting to get the suspense buildings up.
