"The most striking thing about this essay is the poor structure. The content is not bad, but the essay has been paragraphed very badly and divided into two simplistic divisions: John Proctor is a tragic hero; and John Proctor isn't a tragic hero. These divisions, however, seem arbitrary and only known because of the statement explaining this is the division in the middle of the essay. Otherwise, the essay serves only to describe the actions of John Proctor, failing to relate them to the question at hand. In places, the literary analysis is sharp and the effects of Miller's choice of words are noted and explained, even if it lacks technical vocabulary. However, there is a lack of evidence considered, as this is a very rich topic which was given a very cursory glance. It's very tragic (haha?) that the author's own conclusion seems to betray the fact that he doesn't understand the term 'tragic hero'. TSR User:DavyS"
