Discuss Austen's presentation of Elizabeth and Darcy's relationship, with particular reference to the four main meetings In this essay I aim to analyse Darcy and Elizabeth's characters and their relationship in Jane Austen's novel 'Pride and Prejudice'. I will do this by finding out how other people in the story affect the relationship, and how their differences in social class affect their freedom to marry. I hope to relate this to setting and describe how the time they lived in caused problems for them. I hope to discuss in detail the four main encounters they have and the two main problems Elizabeth has with Darcy. Pride and Prejudice is about two people from very different backgrounds becoming engaged. Elizabeth's family is ridiculous and common and don't have much money, whereas Darcy is very rich. During the story, someone else proposes to Elizabeth and she refuses. Elizabeth's youngest sister is married, although
