English Media Assignment - The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Rings An analysis of the portrayal of Frodo and the Shire Frodo is the main character in this movie; throughout the film, he plays a vital role in the plot. In this essay, I will be analysing the portrayal of Frodo and the Shire. Before we meet Frodo in the Shire, a prologue introduces the film and is full of evil and fiery mountains. This contrasts greatly with the lush, green Shire. Our first view of Frodo in the film is when he is under a tree reading - this gives us an impression of intellectuality and that he is educated.
