The strange, deliberately confusing opening chapters of the novel are an important part in introducing the world of Wuthering heights and the complex relationships among the characters, as well as the particular narration the story is told. In chapter 1 the use of the narrators is particularly noticeable. The first person narrators give a sense of immediacy as they are directly connected with the situation, however this can also result in a bias point of view. One of the most important aspects of the novel is its second and third manner of narration. The story is told through entries in Lockwood's diary, but Lockwood does not participate in the events he records. The vast majority of the novel represents Lockwood's written recollections of what he has learned from others, whether he
