... Poem comparison: Woman Work and Lore HOW DO THE POETS SHOW THEIR ATTITUDE TOWARDS LIFE AND WORK? In this essay I am going to identify the similarities and the differences between two different poems, which are both about life and work. The first poem is "Woman Work" written by Maya Angelou in the 1950's. She is a black American Womanist, who writes about her heritage. The other poem is called "Lore" and was written by Ronald Stuart Thomas, who was one of the most accomplished Welsh poets of the 20th century. Woman Work is a poem about the life of a young African woman. Maya Angelou decided to have a female as the main character because this allows her to empathise with the woman more. The gender is significant as it allows the poet to confidently show her own emotion and her own feelings towards the themes of the poem. On
