... Kayleigh Lord What impression does Fanthorpe give on education in her poetry? U A Fanthorpe was previously an English teacher, who has now become a poet. The two poems I have studied are 'Reports' and 'Dear Mr Lee'. Both poems are different but give the reader a similar message. The fact that Fanthorpe was an English teacher is important to her poetry when it comes to school and education topics because she has experienced the experiences she writes about first hand, so she is able to write with a truthful passion. The poem 'Reports' is about an experienced teacher who is advising newer or younger teachers on the best way to write the yearly reports. The whole poem is an extended metaphor linking a school report to one that has been written on your life.
