What makes this poem so interesting is that the speaker of the poem is the mirror itself, when mostly her other poems have her, or any other person, doing the communication. The first stanza of the poem basically introduces the speaker, which clearly declares it being a mirror. The poem takes an interesting turn in the second stanza where the mirror speaks of a woman, who is presumable Sylvia Plath herself. This seemed a very fascinating approach because Plath was writing a poem with herself, but she is only a character and nothing more.
