However this poem has a lot more meanings found between the lines which one may miss out upon a first reading. It reflects on both the positive and negative feelings of a married couple and the ups and downs found in a relationship. The poet also uses color imagery to express different feelings and emotions, like the "dark", "grey" instance of his life. Its flowing tempo represents this 'voyage' of marriage, a bland voyage which at moments is interrupted by the problems of life. The first stanza represents the departure of this life-long journey. This stanza consists of many monosyllabic words; therefore the tempo is neither quick nor too slow. Thus their departure is going according to plan, smoothly, and so is the new married life of
