'The Speckled Band' was written in 1892 by Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle. This story is a classic Sherlock Holmes murder mystery. 'Lamb to the Slaughter' was written by Roald Dahl in 1954 and is a very unusual murder mystery. 'The Speckled Band' is a classic murder mystery with a culprit that uses an unusual murder weapon and is only discovered near the very end of the story. A typical detective story is that of Sherlock Holmes, as nobody knows for sure who the culprit is until the very end, there is always suspense somewhere in the story and there are always 'red herrings' which are
