This essay shall compare and contrast the poem 'Blessing' with that of 'An Old Woman.' The poem 'Blessing' is written by Imtiaz Dharker, while 'An Old Woman' is written by Arun Kolatkar. Both the poems are set in an Asian country, and reflect the lifestyles of the poets that wrote them. Being set in Asian countries, the poems show significant cultural differences to that of an English one. The main difference between the two cultures is the quality of life. The Asian community has a very low quality of life, due to lack of resources. The English community, on the other hand, is very rich, and takes resources such as water for granted.
