Compare how positive emotions are conveyed in 'Love After Love' and one other poem 'Love After Love' conveys positive emotions by taking a negative experience and showing the positives that can come from it. The poem itself is about the end of a relationship. The poet, Derek Walcott says that being in love can make you forget who you really are, and expresses how positive the experience is when you 'find yourself' again. 'This Room' conveys positive emotions through the thought of acceptance and being happy with who you are. The poem itself is about a special event going on in the poet's life, which frees her from the restrictions of everyday existence. She metaphorically rises out of normality and darkness, and into enlightenment. Love After Love uses optimism to create positive emotions. When the poet says 'when, with elation...' he is implying that after splitting up with someone, you'll eventually return...
