A Nightmare for Reality Have you ever stopped to think of what your opinion of your father would be? How he treats you in public? What your home life and "quality time" spent with him is like? The authors of these heart-breaking poems have done just that. By sitting down, deliberating, and writing on what once made them so angry and irate has evolved powerful works of art. The speakers in the poems "My Papa's Waltz" by Theodore Roethke, "Daddy" by Sylvia Plath, and "visions" by Alex Litrun have done just that. Within these three poems, there are many things in common; the attitude towards their fathers, how they express their uncertainties towards them, and how the father treats his children and how that affects their relationship as a whole all contribute as a whole.
