Is Lady Macbeth a Monster? Discuss with reference to how the Character is depicted in the Play. Macbeth was written between 1605 and 1607. It is a tale of deceitfulness, treason and murder. Macbeth, a Scottish nobleman and soldier, is inspired by three witches' prophecy to execute the king. He tells his wife of the prophecy and she also encourages him. In this essay, I am going to evaluate Lady Macbeth's role in the murder of King Duncan and her reaction when others start to get suspicions of her and her husband's involvement in the matter. Macbeth informing her of the prophecies he had received from the three witches first introduces us to Lady Macbeth in Act 1 scene 5 where she is reading the letter sent to her.
