In Shakespeare's Hamlet, the tragic hero reveals his inner conflicts through lengthy soliloquies in the play. The first soliloquy sets the scene, for the rests of Hamlets thoughts, feelings and actions. It is here that Hamlets first reveals his hatred for his mother's incestuous marriage to his uncle, Claudius, his low self image and his great respect for his father. Hamlet hates Claudius and strongly idolizes his father, but because he is plagued by the low self image, he does not take immediate action to this and this contributes even more to his existing problems. In the beginning lines of this soliloquy Hamlet is already considering suicide which shows an abnormal state of mind. O that this too too solid flesh would melt,...
