Friendship between Stanhope and Osborne Journey's End is a famous play which is written by R.C. Sheriff. It is a compelling account of warfare, based upon the writer's own experience as a Captain in the East Surrey regiment, depicting war as meaningless and destructive. It only brings sadness, loss of lives, waste of time and resources etc. It affects people emotionally, breaks their dreams and steals their future. In Journey's End, the writer has described one aspect of the cruel World War 1, the trenches. The characters were living in such harsh condition: absent of light, rats, unhygienic, lacking of space and air and the noise from battlefield. Yet, despite the fear of death, the ominous silence and the deafening noise from thousands of riffles, there were something praiseworthy among our characters.
