Given that 'Hobson's Choice' is a play Written in the twentieth Century about the nineteenth, how do you account for its appeal in the twenty-first? Harold Brighouse's 'Hobson's Choice' appeals to all people even in the twenty-first century due to its stereotypical nature and the battle of the two sexes this mainly occurs between Hobson and his daughters. The roles of men and women play a big role in the play and it is still one of the main reasons why the play is still appealing for people even in the twenty-first century. Hobson who is portrayed as a domineering male is constantly battling with his eldest daughter Maggie. There first big encounter is when Hobson says: "But if you want the brutal truth, you're past the marrying age. You're a proper old maid, Maggie, if there ever was one." This is where the first conflict...
