In Arthur Miller's - A View From the Bridge, was Eddie Carbone's Death Inevitable? Eddie's death was inevitable due to his sexual lust of his niece Catherine. It is shown in many ways such as him not allowing Catherine to leave the house. This is evident when Beatrice, his unloved and sexually deprived wife, tells her husband, "You never let her have a job, this was bound to happen and you just gotta live with it" Also, the fact that Alfieri, the local solicitor and father figure of the community, points it out near the beginning of the play, where he states "and let it run its bloody course" Alfieri is an imposing figure on the community. He acts much like a Shakespearian chorus, predicting the outcome of the next scene, or giving advice to others. He inhabits this neighbourhood which is run in the "Sicilian" style of law to do...
