DISCUSS THE WAYS IN WHICH HE ACHIEVES THIS, USING 'A CREAM CRACKER UNDER THE SETTEE' AS A PARTICULAR EXAMPLE Bennet uses an excellent mix of literary techniques and effective content to portray his characters in a way to which the audience can easily relate and empathise with. Bennet's very clever selection of language leaves the audience needing to know more, and to find more of what theses people have to say. A very potent technique Bennet uses is to portray the characters as powerless; this is very true of 'Cream Cracker' and Doris. 'The cheeky monkey. He's spending a penny. Hey. Hey. Get out. Go on. Clear off. You little demon.' This clear inability to prevent the child 'spending a penny' shows Doris' helplessness, but his is present in everybody's life. It
