Analyse the methods used to make the opperning Battle sequence of "Saving Private Ryan" both shocking and realistic and say how effective you find it as an introduction to the film. 'Saving Private Ryan' was made in 1998 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. It is about the Second World War. Steven Spielberg tries to make the film realistic by showing the battle from the view points of the soldiers. The hand held camra shots make it look so realistic. The battle sequence looks realistic so that the audience feel shocked and have a sense of the nature of war and the huge amount of lives lost. They also take you directly into the action so that you can get a "soldiers eye view" Whilst on the boats they were all terrified for their lives.
