The Shakespearian comedy Much Ado About Nothing is set in Messina (Italy) during the Elizabethan period. The play explores a wide variety of themes such as love, villainy, friendship, parent-child relationships and society which all show an ambiguous mixture of life's relationships.The play clearly shows the relationships with the central characters and how it is dramatically affected by status. The main theme of the play reflects on appearance and reality. How imagery is reflected and how what people see, is sometimes the complete opposite of what the truth really is.
