"Much Ado about Nothing" Critical Evaluation Emma Morgan "Much Ado about Nothing" by William Shakespeare is a very well known entertaining play which looks at the relationship of Beatrice and Benedick. The play is set in Messina where Leonato lives with his daughter and niece. On returning from battle, Don Pedro's men stop in Messina for a while. A soldier called Claudio falls in love with Leonato's daughter, Hero, and they are due to be married soon. Benedick, another soldier, and Beatrice, Leonato's niece, endure another sort of relationship where they love to hate each other. In the end however both Beatrice and Benedick declare their love for one another and put past thoughts and memories aside. Don John is the villain of the play and plans to sabotage Claudio and Hero's relationship by making Claudio believe she is unfaithful. The news about Hero's infidelity spreads quickly and puts shame on her...
