In Pleasantville, everything is perfect; there is no fighting and war, no love and sex, no change in the daily lives of the inhabitants of Pleasantville. Gary Ross is the director of the film. In the movie, he uses many visual effects to express the main theme, the power of change in Pleasantville. Its rich contrast between colour and black and white helps to explore this theme deeply. It is an effective piece of drama with a clear message, to be true to yourself. Much of the movie is set in black & white.
