An African Account of the Conditions Endured On Board a Slave Ship I am now known as Elizabeth Smith, a false title that halts my true identity from being known to the rest of the world. My real name is Malinkun Doodaa; this is a name that shall remain in my heart, until the day I die. I come from West Africa in a place called Senegal. I lived in a small, peaceful village called Village Chambai. When I was 14 years old, I was playing in the stream with two of my friends. Three African men suddenly jumped into the water out of nowhere and grabbed my friends from behind. As I saw that, I knew straight away that I was in danger.
