Of Mice and Men (LONELINESS) In this essay I will be discussing how Steinbeck presents the theme of loneliness in the story Of Mice and Men. Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck in 1937. The story was set in the 1930s during the great depression in America. The story is based on the characters of George and Lennie. During this time a lot of people were jobless and lost their savings too, and people had to travel very far away to get jobs, which was mostly on farm ranches. George and Lennie had a dream of owning their own little house and a few animals of their own. They found work in a ranch near Soledad. They meet different characters on the farm that all have a dream. Being lonely means to not have friends or friendship and to feel unwanted. Most of the characters are lonely...
