Argumentative Writing Is Too Much TV Bad For Children? Most children enter the world of television long before they start school. Almost 70% of child-care centers use TV during a normal day. It has also been calculated that in a year, an average child spends nearly 1023 hours watching television. A study in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) show that children in the United States watch about 4 hours of TV in a day, although the AAP states that children above the age of two should not watch more than 1-2 hours a day of TV. According to other studies, children under the age of two should have no "screen time", which include TV, DVD's, videotapes, videogames etc. The first two years of a child is a critical time for brain development and TV can disrupt children developing skills such as exploring, learning and socializing.
