... Jaws Coursework Jaws is a film based on a novel by Peter Benchley. It was released in 1975 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. Spielberg is known for thriller films and usually very gruesome films. Jaws is about a man-eating great white shark that has been eating people near a beach. The beach is on Amity Island. The date is set on the 4th of July (Independence Day), so everyone is off work and down at the beach, which means sharks could be attracted from all the people in the sea. The tag-line for the film is "When the beaches open this summer, you will be taken by Jaws!". The music in the film is used in a few ways. One way is when the music starts, it means the shark is around. Another way the music is used is, when the music gets faster and louder, it means the shark
