For EACH of the texts, analyse how language techniques were used to strengthen or change your opinion of a particular topic or issue. "The Soldier" by Rupert Brooke and "Dulce et Decorum Est" by Wilfred Owen both use language techniques in a bid to persuade the reader of their opinions of war and its effects. "The Soldier" creates a positive picture of war and is a very patriotic poem, that uses positive language, personification and is written in the form of a sonnet to emphasise its points. Whilst "Dulce et Decorum Est" reveals the horrors of war using similes, metaphors and different view points. It strengthened my opinion that it is not necessarily glorious to die for your country. Wilfred Owen uses similes and metaphors to expose "The old Lie" that it is sweet and decorous to die for your country. He aims to explain the harsh realities of war...
