Stephanie Ashton 23rd November 05 Analysing How Relationships Are Portrayed In 'Manwatching' The title 'Manwatching' indicates that there is a man being watched and whoever is taking part in the watching is used to it. The title is also used as a pun on the idea of bird watching, which implies the activity is a hobby. This illustrates that the person who is watching the man has a possessive nature and that this is a routine event for her. This is the first time that the idea of eyes or watching is used, however it is not the last. This is extremely important as it raises questions. For example; who is being watched and why are they being watched? Also having the word watching in the title suggests to the reader what the rest of the poem is going to be about. Focus on words linked to watching or the eyes
