GCSE Coursework Assignment - Poetry Compare and contrast the poems 'Cousin Kate' by Christina Rossetti and seduction by Eileen McAuley The first poem, 'Cousin Kate' was written by Christina Rossetti in the 1850's. In this essay I am going to compare this poem to Elleen McAuleys 'seduction' written in 1970's. Cousin Kate is a poem which is simply about a girl who gets jealous of her cousin, because she is prettier than her. A girl is the narrator in the poem. The poem basically starts with a girl who lived in a cottage. We know that she lived in a cottage because she states, 'I was a cottage maiden'. She had to work very hard, she was 'Hardened by sun and air'.
