Discuss the effects of the writing in the following passage at the close of the novel. How far and in what ways do you think it brings Achebe's novel to an effective conclusion? In the novel, Things Fall Apart, written by Chinua Achebe, the conclusion has been done to great effect. Achebe has shifted the narrative focus from Okonkwo to the District Commissioner, which helps bring the novel to an end as it symbolizes the waning of the Igbo society. Additionally, it is a suitable end to the novel, as it gives the reader an understanding of the British colonizers' benighted and nescient characters. Moreover, the finale, in which Okonkwo hangs himself, is executed very well and manages to bring the novel together through Okonkwo's eventual downfall. The shift of focus from Okonkwo to the District Commissioner is a suitable end to this novel, which primarily focuses on the Igbo mindset....
