The Shelfish Man Ahmad T. Q. In the story "A&P" by John Updike Sammy is not a hero because he is selfish. He only cares about himself and selected people. This is not a quality of a hero. There have been great heroes in the human history. They were not the same. Some influenced the whole humanity, some influenced certain empires, and some were only heroes because they saved a life. But all of them were considered heroes. Generally, when people think of a hero they think that they are physically strong and smart, but this is not the case.
