In Elizabethan times, magic for the people was a lot more real then todays magic. The people of that time believed in some pretty unbelievable things. It was almost like they lived out of a fairytale book. People looked to the stars to tell the future. Demons, witches, and magic potions filled the heads and struck fear in the people including many other things. Every social class, no matter how rich or poor you were believed in the power to predict Earthly events through spells, rituals, and omens along with different types of magic to do different things. The three main practiced forms were astrology, alchemy, and spirit conjuring (Andrews 78). Astrology was sought to predict and control the future, and was the most widely practiced form of magic with the Elizabethans.
