Drama Explored

Why Study GCSE Drama?

Your first standing ovation, Oscars, wearing tights and playing Romeo/Juliet in the school play. If that's not enough passing GCSE Drama also shows that you can communicate your ideas and feelings, empathise with others and work well in a group.

GCSE Drama: What Will I Study?

GCSE Drama invoves both practical work, your own performances, and theoretical work - studying plays and watching others performances. You'll have to put together a portfolio showing your ideas and inspiration and sit an exam as well.

You'll develop your performance skills, learn about acting techniques and language and how to record your ideas using the right drama terminology.
GCSE Drama links nicely with GCSE English Literature as quite often you'll be studying the same plays. GCSE Media Studies could also be useful. Search coursework.info's database for essays on all three.

GCSE Drama... What Comes Next?

Before you pack your bags for Hollywood you might consider further study. There's A Level Drama and Theatre Studies or English Literature. You could take acting lessons full or part time. Perhaps you'd rather work behind the scenes as a costume designer, lighting technician or sound engineer.

"As an evaluation for a personal performance, I thought this ticked all the boxes it was meant to tick, eg. 'How well did you get on as a group?', but I didn't feel like the writer really explored or explained what they did fully. It just read like the answer to a list of questions, and whilst it covered all the content that should be put in an evaluation, it didn't seem to explore them fully. It felt like an excellent starting point, that with more elaboration, could have been an excellent evaluation. TSR User: lorypop"
