Dyes Dyes are used to dye fabrics different colours. Natural dyes can be obtained from things such as plants and animals. The advantages of these are that they are renewable so will never run out as more animals can be bred and more new plants can be grown. These tend not to be poisonous which makes them less harmful than synthetic dyes. Natural dyes also are an alternative to farmers who are used to growing crops; this provides them with extra income. The disadvantages of natural dyes is that they are difficult to extract the colour and also the colours are never exactly the same due to different plants and animals. They are also generally quite pale and dull colours. They also have a tendency for the colours to fade more than synthetic dyes especially in light and after they have been washed. Natural Dyes are more expensive than synthetic dyes...
