What was it like in the trenches? 1914-1918 Introduction In this essay you will be finding more information about the life in the First World War. The Great War lasted between 1914 to 1918, this is only four years, however just these four years many people was affected, many people lost their loved ones, many people died or was either badly injured. This was mainly an infantry war, which means the war was mainly males fighting. The main aim of the war was to capture each others trenches, to do so the front line must either dig tunnels, or climb over the top and go through no mans land and attack them, most people died during the way through no mans land because of the barbed wires in the way, if you refused to go over the top, you are know to be a coward.
