... 2.What do Sources A, C and D tell us about conditions in the ghetto? In Source A, the first thing we learn about the conditions in the ghetto was that the Jews lived in poor housing conditions. The windows were broken and they looked shabby, Edith Birkin sounds extremely shocked in this source this then gives us an idea that the sight of the housing must be very bad. `these terrible, shabby houses with broken windows` We then learn that these people were poor, as they had not got enough money to buy new clothes, as they were shabbily dressed. They must have been very cold if they were putting blankets around themselves to keep warm meaning that there is a possibility that they had a lack of food if they were so cold. `so shabbily dressed, with blankets over them. ` Edith Birkin describes the physical appearance of the people in the ghettos as
