Anne Sherratt 10n2 13.5.02 P.E Homework It is important for us to eat a healthy balanced diet, as this way the body is provided with energy for exercise and every day life, helps the body fight illness, and keeps the body at the right weight. A balanced diet contains these 7 different nutrients: carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, fats, fibre, vitamins and water. Without these different food types the body would not be able to carry out every activity presented in every day life. Carbohydrates are foods such as fruits (e.g. apples, oranges) vegetables (e.g. carrots, potatoes) bread, butter, milk, cheese, eggs, fish and nuts. Carbohydrates are the main energy providers in a diet as they contain starch sugars and cellulose, the main foods in this group that provide us with starch are bread, potatoes, pasta and rice.
