A slave's life I am one of seven workers in the house hold: Myself and two other general purpose slaves, two maids and two cooks. My master, Atonius Hubernus, is a senator of Rome. He inherited his position from his father, awarded it as a special privilege by the emperor. He is generally good to me, although under a lot of pressure from being 'Tribunes Plebes'. I consider myself very lucky, I know many slaves who are treated very badly, not helped by the law who do not regard them as human beings. Every day I take part in a wide range of activities: * During the winter the house, being very large, can get quite cold, the first job of the day for a day would be to fire up the hypocaust. * When my master is awake, I am expected to assist dressing him.
