... Sarim Kumar L5C Classics 17/5/04 The Gods in the Aeneid Book 1 play a huge role. The way we think of the Gods varies in many ways. Firstly, the Goddesses tend to be more emotional and hold more grudges than Gods. An example of this is when Juno persuades Aeolus to summon winds and blow Aeneas and his men off course of even to kill them. However, some Gods are more sensible than others. Neptune, God of the Seas, helped out the Trojans when they were in trouble because it was the right thing to do. Gods such as Juno and Aeolus would not bother to help out because they couldn't care less, which is the wrong attitude. Secondly, Jupiter foreshadows Aeneas' future saying that he will found a city and rule it for three years before he dies. The response to this prophecy is that it makes the plot more
