??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? RATES OF REACTION Chemical reaction can take place slowly or quickly. A very fat reaction that produces heat and gasses is an explosion: slowing it down can make it safe to use. Reaction can only occur when particles of the reagents collide with each other with enough energy to react. Anything, which increases the chance of collision taking place, which increases the energy in each collision . The rate of a reaction will depend on: * The temperature * The concentration of liquid reagents * The surface area of solid reagents * The use of a catalyst concentration If the concentration of the acid is increased, the reaction turns faster. If the concentration of the acid is decreased, the reaction turns slower In a less concentrated acid, the number of collisions is low, so the rate of the reaction is slower. With a more concentrated acid, the number of acid particles is greater,...
