James Curry 10X1 AT1 Assessed Practical What is the effect of the concentration of hydrochloric acid on the rate of reaction, in a reaction between hydrochloric acid and marble chips? I will attempt to find out what the relationship is between the rate of the reaction and the concentration by conducting a series of experiments in which I will react marble chips with hydrochloric acid and observe the reaction and it's results. I will measure the amount of hydrogen given off in the reaction every 10 seconds over a set period of 100 seconds. With this data, gas given off/time, I can create graphs, analyse them and, from this analysis, draw a conclusion. All the variables must be closely controlled in order to make this experiment fair.
