What effects the rate of reaction between sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid? Aim: To see if temperature affects the rate of reaction between the chemicals Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric acid. Sodium Thiosulphate + Hydrochloric Acid Na2S2O3 (aq) + 2HCl (aq) Prediction: I predict that as the temperature is increased the rate of reaction will increase. This should be shown in the graph from the conclusion, you should be able to see a positive correlation. In the collision theory, when the temperature in increased the particles will have more energy and move around faster. This then causes them to collide more often with more energy. Particles with more energy are more likely to overcome the activation energy barrier to reaction and react successfully.
