Rates of Reaction Aim To find out whether the concentration of acid affects the rate of a reaction between marble and hydrochloric acid. Equipment List 1x conical flask 1x delivery tube & bung 1x test tube 1x water trough 1x safety goggles 1x timer 1x measuring cylinder 10 mls HCl 5g CaCo Diagram Method * I set up the apparatus as shown on the diagram. * The first concentration of acid I HCl I used was 0.25M I added 5g of CaCo (marble) to the conical flask which contained the HCl. * The HCl and the CaCo will react. The gas produced from this reaction will be CO . I know this because I to part in the test for CO . To test for this, you put a lit splint into the test tube of unknown gas and if it goes out its CO or if it pops then it is hydrogen.
