The effect of Temperature on the rate of reaction Aim To determine whether the rate of reaction is altered by changes in the temperature when a marble chip is dissolved in an acidic solution. Hypothesis I predict that when I increase the temperature the rate of reaction will increase. The reason why I think that the rate of reaction will increase when the temperature increases is because kinetic theory will come into play. This means that when the temperature increases the energy of the particles increases which makes them move faster and faster. ==> These diagrams show what happens at different temperatures. At a low temperature the vibrations of the molecules are low this means that the kinetic energy is low. Therefore, the number of successful collisions is low and so the products produced is low.
