Aim: The target of my investigation is to analyse the effect of varying temperatures on the rate of reaction. More specifically I am going to investigate the rate at which magnesium reacts with hydrochloric acid, at different temperatures. Prediction and scientific reasoning: I predict that the rate of reaction will increase as the temperature rises. I predict that since the only variable I' m mutating is temperature, the volume of gas given off will be similar at different temperatures. Eventually the reaction rate will diminuish, this happens because there will be no more magnesium left to react with the acid. A salt will have been formed; we will notice this because no more hydrogen will be given off. The significant difference between the readings at different temperatures, will be how fast the volume of gas will be given off. The scientific reasoning behind this behaviour is strictly related to the collision theory....
